Zivio  -Performing Saturday, December  9,
5:30 p.m.

The Živio Ethnic Arts Ensemble is a group of dancers
and musicians based in Salt Lake City who specialize in
traditional dances and music from the Balkan region.
Our repertoire includes material from Bulgaria,
Macedonia, and Croatia, among others. The songs and
dances vary greatly from country to country, so an
ordinary performance showcases a wide range of
different countries and styles. When we perform,
dancers wear traditional costumes and the band plays
authentic instruments. Živio has a long history of
performing in the Salt Lake City area, mostly taking part
in annual international-themed festivals and charity
events. The group has performed out of state as well as
in Europe.

cultivate the unique Basque culture with dance, food and games.
The club is a non-profit organization that supports itself with a
variety of fund raising activities. The club sponsors a dance
group, the Utah'ko Triskalariak, a card playing organization (Mus)

Venezuelen Cantando- Performing Friday,
December 8, 6:00 p.m.

The Garcia family of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, is at the heart of
this performing group, which plays traditional Venezuelan music
from several regions of the country.  Caribbean-style drumming
from the Lake Maracaibo region, Andean music from the western
mountain regions, and music from the plains and savannas,
where the “plains harp” or harpa llanera originated, are all part of
the performance.

The Swiss Chorus Edelweiss

Since the early 1930s, the Swiss Chorus Edelweiss has
been at the heart of Utah's Swiss community. The
chorus has provided a strong public image for the Swiss
community, engendered individual pride in ethnic
heritage and provided a support group for individual
immigrants that assists in their transition from being
Swiss to becoming Swiss-American. By practicing the
art forms of their homeland— the music and dance
traditions known from birth— they are able to preserve
some of their Swiss identity even as the traditions of
their new home become more and more prominent in
their lives. These traditions provide a living link for
children and grandchildren to their European heritage a
gift that every member passes along to the next
generation.

The Riverton Children's Choir

The Riverton Children's Choir is a classically trained,
community based choir and admittance is by audition
only. The choir was formed in January 2000 when
Christine Mickelsen, Patrece Johnson, and Heidi
Christensen set out to create an outstanding cultural
experience for the children in the Riverton area. The
children sing music from the Baroque, Classical, and
Romantic Eras, sometimes singing in Latin, German,
French and Hebrew. The repertoire is balanced with
spirituals and popular selections for variety.

The Riverton Children's Choir has performed at the 2002
Winter Olympics, Temple Square, the Provo Tabernacle,
and the South Towne Expo Center. The choir was
invited to sing the winning entries in a music writing
contest for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints, and has performed side-by-side concerts with
Voice Male, the Bar J Wranglers, Eclipse, and Enoch
Train.
